Trinity College, Dublin

followed by the Irish Postgraduate Film Research Seminar on 22 April

The day will consider the conceptual and methodological issues involved in researching regional and national cinemas and speakers will include:

-        Professor Sylvia Harvey, University of Lincoln

-        Professor Martin McLoone, Univeristy of Ulster, Coleraine

The training day is designed for research students with an interest in national film and television cultures and there will be an opportunity for students to present their projects, meet scholars attached to the Centre and to contribute to discussions.

The training day coincides with the Irish Postgraduate Film Research Seminar, a collaborative venture between Trinity College, Dublin and the Centre for Media Research at the University of Ulster designed to provide a platform for the presentation of new research by film scholars in Irish third-level institutions and those working on Irish film topics in non-Irish universities and colleges.

Research students currently enrolled at UK and Irish Universities can apply for free admission to the Postgraduate Training Day (and also the Irish Postgraduate Film Research Seminar). A limited number of bursaries will also be available to contribute towards travel and accommodation costs.

Applications are invited from UK and Irish-based postgraduate students working in film and television studies, giving details of current enrolment in a higher education institution, an academic CV and a brief statement of reasons for wishing to apply for a bursary. The application should include an indication of approval from the applicant's supervisor.
